Thomas Heatherwick Vessel Art Object in Hudson Yards, New York
46-meter construction consisting of stairs and horizontal platforms.
The prototype of the Vessel was the stairs of ancient Indian wells located along the walls at several levels in a certain rhythm. At Heatherwick’s bureau, they decided to arrange them in a circle: alternating flights of stairs and horizontal platforms, they got a structure of jumpers and voids that resembled honeycombs.
Having equipped the “basket” with 80 platforms, platforms and 154 spans with 2500 steps with a total length of more than three kilometers that do not lead anywhere, it turned into a tourist attraction, a giant attraction – a subject of desire for selfie lovers.
